This is a video that my friend Brad Gosse and I filmed after a few interesting discussions about social rules. In essence, Brad is a line jumper at grocery stores. He sees it as an opportunity while I saw it as rude or non-courteous. He has slightly swayed my opinion but I am still on the fence.

I am going with Brad on this one. I have jumped into the first spot on a newly opened cash and I have walked through the ‘camera line’. I have also given my seat on a bus to someone else because the younger males did not see fit to do so. I hold doors open as well, whether it is a male or female with the bags and conversely I have had doors left closed while I struggled with bags.
Some of this is opportunity, the rest is social politeness, something which appears to be lacking in a large group of the population.

Funny topic! Wow I also jump my turn in line at the Grocery store, only when they open a new check out.
Funny thing is that I didnt think I was doing any thing wrong as if I didnt grab the spot first someone from behind me would step up.
Mind you I have been in line before and someone has gone straight to the front of the line and litterally just pushed their way in front of the next person to be served. Like Justin I normally see red in these situations and get angry and it normally lasts with me for somtime. Its interesting when you go to places like China their customs and etiquette are totally different to ours nobody shows any courtesy to anybody and no one thinks twice about it.
Call me old fashioned but I like manners!
